Robert D. Halfmann Memorial Scholarship

Who was Robert D. Halfmann?

Robert D. Halfmann, a 1998 graduate of Half Hollow Hills High School West and an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Dix Hills, NY, passed away on December 28, 2000. Although he was challenged by three different types of cancer, Robert dedicated his life to helping others.

The Robert D. Halfmann Memorial Scholarship has been awarded annually since 2002 to numerous candidates who are students at Half Hollow Hills High School West and/or a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church of Dix Hills, NY.

The scholarship award is $3,000 presented over a four-year program of studies.

  • $500 for freshman year
  • $500 for sophomore year
  • $1,000 for junior year
  • $1,000 for senior year

The recipient must remain in good standing and be enrolled in an accredited college or university. Students who choose to begin their education at a community college and transition to a four-year school also qualify.

Students entering any field are eligible to apply - preference may be given to those pursuing education or a related field.
